Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer has visited Barnardo’s to find out more about its work.
She stopped off at the charity’s Redbridge Leaving Care service in Barkingside to meet the young people it supports.
They described the difficult experience of moving from care to being independent and also the range of support they receive.
Natalie, who ran this year’s London Marathon for the charity, plays Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones and was Anne Boleyn in the TV series The Tudors. She is also due to appear in the next Hunger Games film.
She said: “It’s such a privilege to meet such strong young people who are attempting to make the most of their lives, despite having had a really tough start. The young people I met truly are an inspiration and could teach us all a lot about resilience and striving for positive change.
“Barnardo’s is an amazing charity which does such good work for so many vulnerable children, for whom life would be so tragically different without their help.”
