Pupils from Grove Primary School, Chadwell Heath Lane, joined forces with supermarket chain Asda to put on a sports day spectacular.

As well as the egg and spoon event, pupils took part in variety of sporting activities, including a sack race and hockey games.

Asda helped put on the event and gave out goodie bags and refreshments to parents and children.

Grove Primary headteacher Debra Webb said: “The children and parents really enjoyed the sports day, it was great to see them competing for their team colours and cheering each other on.”

The Asda staff were promoting healthy eating to the children and gave out fresh bananas and orange slices for free.

Mrs Webb added: “The juice and refreshments provided by Asda really helped on such a hot day.”
