Former Paralympian to open Newbury Park school’s first ever summer fete

A former Paralympic swimmer is opening Little Heath Secondary School’s first ever fete next Saturday (30).
Jenny Orpwood, who won gold, bronze and silver at the 1972 Berlin Games, will open the fete at the school in Hainault Road.
Pupils have been preparing for months for the occasion.
The school caters for children with a range of special needs, including autism and learning difficulties.
Parent and student advisor Nyeema Yasin said the fete will be a big step for the school.
She said: “It’s the first time we have done something like this. We’ve been planning it since September 2011, I can’t believe it.”
The fete will include a live owl display, dance groups, martial arts, army cadets and face and henna painting.
There will also be a barbecue, stalls and charities.
The fete is open to all members of the public from 12pm to 4pm. Adults £2, children free.
