A firearm was seized by officers this morning after it was discovered on Loxford Lane in Ilford this morning.

Police were called to the road, in Ilford, just before 9am this morning, and found the weapon, which has now been sent for testing.

Last year, an 11-year-old boy was hit by a stray gunshot pellet and a 22-year-old man shot in the back, on the same road.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said he was unable to share details about the weapon, until testing had been carried out.

No arrests have been made.

  • This doesn't surprise me at all as Loxford Lane has always been a crime ridden place, drug dealing and taking, robbery, burglary and prostitution still go on. Some of it's so blatant it goes on in plain sight. There are far too few police patrolling the area and when you do see them it's mostly as a result of an incident and not to prevent something happening due to a police presence.
