There were lots of blue lights in Woodford Green this afternoon after 21 firefighters fought a blaze at the police station.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at the station in High Road at noon today.

More than half of the ducting from the ground to the third floor was damaged by fire and the blaze took just over an hour to get under control.

Around 40 people left the premises before the arrival of the brigade and there were no reports of any injuries.

Fire crews from Woodford, Walthamstow and Chingford fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but the Metropolitan Police is not treating it as suspicious.
