London 2012: Galaxy of stars back Games in their own way

Some of the cream of British entertainment are backing London 2012 Olympics.

Muse, Elton John and Dizzee Rascal have all recorded songs for the Games.

They are among six artists who have recorded for Rock the Games, a music and entertainment programme for the sports showpiece.

Among those performing live will be the Scissor Sisters, Rizzle Kicks and Soft Focus.

Olympians and celebrities including Helen Mirren and Ricky Gervais, have also recorded messages for the Games, which will be played in the lead up to events.

LOCOG has created video guides to sports and will be offering spectators the chance to buy live commentary for events they are watching in 12 venues and will cost £10.

Presenters including Ben Shepherd and Gethin Jones will also act as the ‘frontmen’ for special interviews at venues.

A video featuring stars including actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, musician Gary Barlow, boxing star Amir Khan and comedian and actor Simon Pegg will be played at the end of events.

The five-minute video will be played on screens at a number of venues as spectators leave.

The stars, who are joined by Olympians including Daley Thompson and London 2012 chief Seb Coe plus a host of other stars including Helen Mirren and Gina Davis, say goodbye and offer advice.

Pegg, who starred in films including Run, Fat Boy, Run, ends his message by saying: “Please remember to mind the gap, it’s very important.”

Boxer Khan says: “To all the kids, stay out of trouble.”

Watson, who played Hermione in the Harry Potter films, says: “I hope you had an awesome time, keep loving London.”
