The River Roding is returning to normal levels after last month’s unrelenting downpours caused it to swell and spill onto low-lying land.

The Environment Agency has lifted all warnings on the lower part of the river, which flows through Redbridge, Wanstead, Woodford and Ilford.

It was on flood alert for more than a week at the end of December and spilled onto some low-lying land, roads and gardens.

The Environment Agency monitored the river while it was on the lowest warning level, meaning “flooding is possible, be prepared” but gave the all-clear on December 28.

The Met Office forecasts the coming week to be largely dry as temperatures drop below zero.
