Clayhall man sentenced to eight weeks in prison in Christmas crackdown on drink driving

A Clayhall man could spend Christmas day behind bars after being caught drink driving.

Ishdeep Panesar, 26, of Berkeley Avenue was arrested on December 3 at 5am in Arterial Road, North Stifford.

He has been disqualified for 36 months and jailed for eight weeks for driving under the influence and driving without insurance.

So far 70 people have been arrested in December as part of a Christmas anti-drink and drug driving campaign which runs until January 1.

Phouvieng Chanthalangsy, 44, of Daffodil Way, Chelmsford was also convicted after being arrested on the A13 at Pitsea at 1.50am on December 3.

Chanthalangsy was disqualified for 26 months, ordered to do 160 hours of unpaid work, and told to pay £135 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Luke Stringer, 24, of Havengore, Basildon was convicted after getting arrested at 10.45am on December 12 in Clayhill Road, Basildon.

He has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, disqualified from driving for 42 months, ordered to undertake a rehabilitation programme, and told to pay £85 costs and £115 victim surcharge.
