A student feeling “over the moon” at his A-levels success will be the first person in his family to attend university.

James Wootton, 18, achieved an A* in law and As in geography and psychology.

The Valentines High School student is now set to study geography at University College London (UCL).

He said: “I feel really over the moon. It was so unexpected - I thought I’d get around ABB.

“My parents were also over the moon and my mum was crying. All happy tears!”

James has another reason to celebrate as he is the first person in his family to go into higher education.

He said: “It feels like a new stepping stone. In a few years I can help my 11 year-old brother and show him how he can be successful as well.”

The teenager hopes to embark on a career in environmental law in the future.
