Amandeep Bhamra, 28, left Highlands Primary School in Highlands Road in 2000 and now works for the cancer institute at UCL.

He spent the afternoon taking a question and answer session with year six children and then met the school’s Science lead Vanessa Patel and senior learning leader Sandy Kaur.

Amandeep, wanting to give something back to the school, has very generously given a donation to the school to fund digital microscopes for each year group.

The school has invited him to come back when the digital microscopes have arrived and the children have begun to use them.

Liz Payne, who has worked at the school for more than 23 years, said: “Hopefully he may have inspired our children to go on to become scientists of the future.”
