“Technical difficulties” have left The Palmer Catholic Academy in Seven Kings unable to disclose the proportion of its pupils meeting a national benchmark for GCSEs.

Head Frank Maguire said students had “achieved excellent grades” but the school did not know yet how many had got five A*-Cs including English and maths.

Twins Conor and Daniel McNicholas were among the many 16-year-olds across the country picking up their results today.

Between them they got two A*s, `14 As and four Bs.

Conor said: “I’m just happy that we’ve got the results now. It’s weird now that it’s finished.

“The anticipation of getting the results is over and it’s a fantastic feeling.”
