An England cricketer, who became the first Asian woman to play in the team, has met pupils from a Woodford Green school to inspire them to work hard to achieve their goals.

Sixth formers at Woodbridge High School, St Barnabas Road, got the chance to talk to Isa Guha individually on Wednesday.

Ranked number one bowler in the ICC women’s one day international rankings, Isa is a Sporting Equals ambassador and was voted British Asian Personality of the Year in 2010.

She spent time with students discussing her own education and achievements, as part of the sixth form’s enrichment programme.

Advanced skills teacher, Faheem Khan, said: “Isa has had such a varied career and what we thought was amazing was the balance she has in her life, from her cricket to studying for a PHD in neurosience.

“She connected with the students and we hope she will act as a female role model and encourage them to work hard so they can be as successful as her.”
