Suhaila Khamis, 11, left King Solomon High School, in Forest Road, earlier this month but is now attending again with the help of her aunt.

Suhaila, of Silvertown, uses a wheelchair and needs “constant help” because of tumours caused by rare cancer neuroblastoma.

King Solomon High headteacher Spencer Lewis said she had settled in well at the school.

He added: “I am delighted that Suhaila is back.

“Obviously her aunt supporting her is only an interim measure and we are working with Newham in the hope that a more permanent solution through appropriate funding can be found as soon as possible.”

Newham Council insisted there were “suitable and safe” school options in Suhaila’s home borough.

A spokesman said: “Financing adaptations to ensuring accessibility to a Redbridge School is not the responsibility of Newham Council.

“All schools in Newham are fully accessible to enable all children to achieve their full potential.”

King Solomon High School is in discussion with Newham Council to find a permanent solution.
