A woman’s body has been discovered in a river in east London this morning, police have confirmed.
A spokesman for the Met said officers were called to Ilford around 9am after reports of a body in the River Roding.
He said it was subsequently recovered by members of the marine police unit, and enquiries are underway to establish the woman’s identity and the circumstances of her death.
The Met’s boat unit tweeted (@MPSOnTheWater) at 10.30am saying: “Marine 3’s crew have attended the River Roding in East London to reports of a body in the river. Sadly they have recovered a deceased person.”
The driver of a Vauxhall Corsa which smashed into the barriers near the Moby Dick junction of the A12 has been arrested after one of his passengers died in the collision.
