A 29-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm following the chemical attack outside of Redbridge station.

Yesterday (Wednesday, May 30) police and ambulance services were called at 10.34am to reports of two people having a liquid substance thrown in their face in Redbridge Lane East, Ilford.

Police confirmed that the substance was chemical but said it could “be acid or a noxious substance”.

Two men were later taken to hospital.

One of the men remains in hospital, and his injuries have been deemed non-life threatening but potentially life changing.

The other man who was injured in the attack has been discharged from hospital, and his injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

She remains in custody at an east London police station.

The substance thrown is being assessed.

Police enquiries continue.
