UPDATE: Second man arrested after fatal stabbing in Dagenham

A second man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a man in Dagenham yesterday morning.

The 31-year-old man was arrested in Grays by Essex police and is currently in custody at an east London police station.

A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation yesterday at an address in Goodmayes and a murder investigation has been launched.

Officers were called at around 05.35am on Sunday morning after reports someone had been attacked outside The Beaver Centre, on Selinas Lane.

London Ambulance Service took the man, believed to be aged 24, to an east London hospital but he was pronounced dead at around 07.15am.

At this early stage it is believed that there was a dispute between two groups at the entrance to a function being held at the venue.

Detectives are very keen to hear from everyone who was at The Beaver Centre on Saturday night, especially anyone who witnessed the dispute or the attack on the victim.

An incident room has opened at Barking under Detective Chief Inspector Neale Baldock from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

Whilst officers believe they know who the victim is they await formal identification and a post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or who has any information that could assist their investigation.
