Thefts of Mercedes Sprinter vans rising in Redbridge

09:16 15 July 2014

Thefts of a certain type of Mercedes van are on the rise in Redbridge, it has emerged.

Since January 1 this year, 82 Sprinters have been stolen in the borough.

Redbridge police say thieves use electrical devices after breaking into the vehicles and drive them into nearby streets, where they are left for a few days in case there are trackers installed.

Police believe some of the vans are being stolen to be taken to scrap metal yards and depots.

Anyone with information should call officers on 101.
