Seven more charged in Barkingside Magistrates’ Court corruption case

There are now a total of 30 people charged following the investigation into corruption at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.

Seven further people have been charged in connection with Operation Theemin, the Redbridge Police investigation into conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office, bribery and perverting the course of justice.

The seven further people charged are:

Ali Hussein Mohammed, aged 29, occupation unknown, of Bow Common Lane, E3 was charged with perverting the course of justice on 9 January 2014.

Mohammed Babar, aged 32, an assistant chef of Twickenham Road, Greenford was charged with perverting the course of justice on 13 January 2014.

Reza Chatroodi, aged 37, an estate agent of Upper Berkley Street, W1 was charged with perverting the course of justice on 13 January 2014.

Parminder Ghatora, aged 31, a deputy office manager of Windmill Road, Coventry was charged with misconduct in a public office on 13 January 2014.

The following have also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Zahid Ali, aged 24, occupation unknown, of no fixed address.

Haji Munye, aged 28, occupation unknown, of no fixed address.

Naeem Akthar, aged 27, occupation unknown of no fixed address.

Det Sgt John Arnold, of Operation Theemin, said: “This has been a wide reaching investigation regarding matters that affect all members of the community. It is paramount that the public can have confidence in the integrity of the court system. An investigation of this nature is important to maintain that confidence.”

All 30 people who have been charged will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on February 13.
