Detectives hunting “extremely dangerous” men who opened fire in an Ilford party venue have offered a £10,000 reward for information about their whereabouts.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the leg at a private event being held inside the Praba Banqueting Suite, in High Road, Ilford in the early hours of June 6.

As a birthday party came to the end, police say two men opened fire across the dance floor which caused guests to disperse.

More than 300 people are believed to have attended.

The victim later presented himself at an east London hospital; he sustained serious injuries for which he is receiving ongoing treatment.

Detectives from the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating this incident as an attempted murder, and are appealing for any witnesses.

A £10,000 reward is now being offered for any information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the persons responsible for this offence.

Det Con Marcus Snook, of the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command, said: “This was a shocking incident which left the victim with serious injuries.

“It has left the victim with psychological scars that will remain with him forever.

“The two men responsible acted with complete disregard for the safety of partygoers and it was sheer luck rather than judgement that no one else was injured.

“We believe that a large number of those who attended were from the Hackney area.

“It is almost certain that people who attended the party would have seen what happened and will have vital information that could assist our inquiry.

“I would appeal to you directly to come forward and provide any information you may have.

“The men who carried out this shooting are dangerous individuals. We are appealing for members of the public to assist the investigative team in identifying the persons responsible before they commit further offences.

“I fully understand that people are cautious when providing information to the police.

“I would like to give assurances that any information made to the investigation team will be treated in the strictest confidence and their identity will remain confidential.

“I would urge any witnesses with any information about this incident to contact us so we can bring those responsible for this crime to justice before they potentially harm anyone else.”

Witnesses or anyone with information is being urged to call the Met’s Trident Command on 020 8217 7382, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
