Bhavna Bhalsod, 34, was driving past Green Lane Day Nursery, Goodmayes, on Monday of last week, when a parked car started up and sped towards her on the wrong side of the road.

Bhavna, who had 16-month-old daughter Leah Tara in the car with her, said: “He put his foot down and came towards me. I panicked and thought: ‘What am I going to do?’

“He came closer and closer and I slammed my brakes on. He swerved around my car and hit a car that was parked on the pavement and lost control.”

The out-of-control car then hit the kerb opposite and came to a halt.

Three men got out of the vehicle, took their belongings from the boot and ran off, she said.

Bhavna said: “I started taking pictures and following them.”

She called the police but lost the men when she was stopped by traffic.

The parked car that was hit was owned by one of the nursery’s cleaners.

Police say they were called at 5.30pm to the collision at the junction of Green Lane and Nutfield Road and there were no injuries reported.

The driver and two passengers were described as being in their twenties and wearing dark clothing. One was wearing a cap and a blue jacket and the other was wearing what appeared to be work wear.

Bhavna added: “It was right opposite the nursery so I’m thankful there wasn’t anyone crossing the road with a baby.”
