A man has been sentenced to five years in prison for a series of attacks on his partner and two assaults on police officers.

Joseph Lamey, 28, of Preston Avenue, in Chingford, was given the punishment at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday for two harassment with violence offences, one count of actual bodily harm (ABH) and two assaults on police officers.

Judge Paneth called Lamey a “dangerous individual” and ordered him to disclose any future relationships to the probation service.

Det Con Paul Fuller, from Ilford CID, said: “Joseph Lamey physically attacked his partner on several occasions throughout 2013.

“The fear of his violence was reinforced to the victim and friends by text message threats and abuse warning them of future violence.

“The conditions set by the judge warn of the defendant’s character in a domestic environment. Redbridge CID take reports of domestic violence extremely seriously and we urge any sufferers to report matters to the police.”
