Central Line to be improved during 12-day closure of Hainault loop

Improvements will take place on the Central Line to improve reliability and create a smoother journey for passengers in the borough.
The upgrade work, which will begin on October 24, will take place during a 12-day closure of the Central Line’s Hainault loop.
London Underground will close the line until November 4 between Grange Hill and Newbury Park on weekdays and between Woodford and Leytonstone on the two affected weekends (October 27-28 and November 3-4).
The work is part of a programme of renewal works on the line, which was last upgraded in the 1990s with new trains and signalling, allowing automatic train operation.
Central Line services will continue to operate between Epping and central London throughout the closure, which will include track renewal, new track drainage and better ride quality.
Tickets will be accepted on local buses and Network Rail services between Ilford and Stratford, and high frequency rail replacements buses will also be running.
