Armed police called after witness ‘sees shotgun’ which turns out to be ‘crowbar’ in Goodmayes

Armed police attended the scene of a burglary in Goodmayes this afternoon after a witness reported seeing a shotgun, which detectives believe was in fact a crowbar.

No weapon has been found at the scene of the burglary in Green Lane.

Police think what the witness saw was a crowbar, used to gain access to the property.

Armed officers were called at just after 1pm and inquiries are continuing.

No one was inside the house at the time of the burglary and it is not clear at this stage what was taken.
