Creative colourful crockery at Valentines Mansion and Gardens
15:52 19 August 2014
Children were invited to take inspiration from their beautiful surroundings as the painted crockery at Valentines Mansion this morning.
A workshop was set up in the drawing room of the 17th century mansion where the children could take inspiration from the classic wallpaper and stained glass windows to decorate cups and saucers with a traditional Georgian floral design.
Amy Mounteny, development assistant at the mansion, said: “It was a very colourful workshop with 15 very excited young children.
“There was a great team effort between the parents and the children transferring their designs onto cups and saucers.”
The children aged between five and nine learnt about the history of Georgian designs as well as the designs of the mansion during this activity morning.
Miss Mounteny added: “Those who really stood out were those who really looked at the history.”
