Discarded Christmas trees are being collected for free and being turned into compost in Redbridge.

Residents can book a free collection with the council. The trees are then recycled and the compost can be brought from the Reuse and Recycling Centre in Chigwell Road, Woodford Green.

To arrange a collection, go to the “request garden waste collection” option of the Report It section at www.redbridge.gov.uk or call 020 8554 5000.
