A Chigwell golfer took up boxing to raise £2,500 for charity.
Bradley Preston, resident professional at Woolston Manor Golf and Country Club in Abridge Road, stepped into the boxing ring for three rounds against the former captain of the club.
Bradley was fundraising for Saint Francis Hospice in Havering-atte-Bower.
He said: “A sister-in-law of a member was cared for by the hospice before she died of cancer, so we decided to arrange a boxing night to include an auction with some great raffle prizes.
“I trained for 10 weeks prior to the fight. I’m normally used to swinging golf clubs rather than my fists.
“I was a bit nervous when I saw my opponent turn up at the gym at the club one night for a sparring session with Olympic champion James DeGale, but I managed to survive the three rounds.”
The 40-year-old joked that he will now be retiring from boxing undefeated.
