22-year-old Jonathan Kabamba aka Rychus Ryter, a former Recorder/Redbridge Rotary Club Young Citizen Award winner, brought together more than 100 footballers to help his Righteous Impact cause on Saturday.

The non-profit organisation supports children in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where Rychus was born.

Youth players from Premiership clubs Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, semi-pro footballers and amateurs took part in a knock-out tournament at West Ham United’s community ground in Beckton.

Rychus said: “The West Ham coaches all stayed to help out and they were amazed by the numbers. They are up for doing another one. People said ‘do it next week’.”

Through entry fees, £500 was raised for the charity.

It helps fund clothing and education in the Congo and makes gift donations to hospitals in the UK.

The winning team was led by captain Getro Kilopi.
