Bright ideas wanted to create new look for regenerated Barkingside

08:00 25 January 2013

Artists and designers are being invited to make their mark on the new Barkingside.

Regeneration scheme Better Barkingside is looking for artists, designers, signwriters, shopfitters and even gardeners to define the look of the new centre.

The space around Fullwell Cross Library, in High Road, is being completely redeveloped.

Submissions are wanted for shop fronts and public “fronts” including park, transport connections and public buildings.

A statement from the developers said: “The aim is to enhance Barkingside High Street’s civic identity using a coordinated community-based effort to improve the appearance and amenity of public areas, public buildings and shop fronts.”

Successful applicants will be put on a roster of practitioners.

Between £1,500 and £5,000 will be awarded for each project.

To send submissions for the scheme or for more information, visit www.dk-cm.com/public/Barkingside_Frontages_Call.pdf.

The deadline for registrations is Monday.
