Crews in breathing apparatus are using two main jets and one hose reel jet on the fire, which is at two converted terraced houses in Brunel Road.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said one of the houses is completely alight.

A gas leak was affecting their efforts, but firefighters have now isolated the gas at the street valve to prevent it.

Two crews from Loughton, one from Waltham Abbey, one from Hainault and one from Woodford Green are in attendance.
