More than 30 pub regulars at the Chequers Pub in High Street, Barkingside, helped raise £750 for Movember.

The drinking buddies each grew a moustache for a month throughout November in aid of prostate cancer and other health issues faced by men.

The event was organised by Barkingside local Trevor Wright, 50, whose uncle Christopher Dogman died in April after battling prostate cancer for eight years.

“It meant a lot to me to raise money for a prostate cancer charity this year,” he said.

“It was really successful, we all decided to just go for it, and all the staff at the pub have been very helpful, we all had a great time.”

The mustachioed group gathered at the pub on Friday to celebrate the end of Movember, and marked the occasion with a raffle and best moustache competition, which was won by ‘Dorset Dave’ and his handlebar design.

“We’ll definitely do it again next year,” added Trevor.

“It was a lot of fun.”
