A NatWest branch in an Ilford high street will shut this summer.
The banking group has announced that its Barkingside branch in the High Street will be close its doors to customers on July 25.
NatWest said it made the decision after seeing a 60% decline in counter transactions between 2019 and the start of 2023.
Just three personal customers used the branch weekly last year, according to the banking group.
It comes after a string of branch closures by NatWest, with three of its London banks having already shut down this year.
Announcing the initial closures last year, the banking group said: “As with many industries, most of our customers are shifting to mobile and online banking, because it’s faster and easier for people to manage their financial lives.
“We understand and recognise that digital solutions aren’t right for everyone or every situation, and that when we close branches we have to make sure that no-one is left behind.
“We take our responsibility seriously to support the people who face challenges in moving online, so we are investing to provide them with support and alternatives that work for them.”
The nearest NatWest for Barkingside customers is now almost three miles away in Ilford Hill.
Banking services are also provided at the nearby Barkingside Post Office.
