Tan Dhillon has taken the decision to open The Village Bookshop in High Road at 10.15am Monday to Friday, rather than 9.15am, and stay open until 6.30pm.

Mr Dhillon, who lives 30 miles away and drives to work, said: “To cut down my share of Co2 emissions, I’ll be travelling after the rush hour.”

The store is also open on Saturdays, 9.30am-6.30pm.
