Stephanie Moore joined ex West Ham player Brian Dear at the Legends statue with supporters of the Bobby Moore Fund to launch a dedicated fundraising page and fan forum on the Cancer Research UK website.

The fund was set up by Moore’s wife after he tragically passed away from bowel cancer aged 51 and its supporters have raised around £17 million for the cause since.

The page is called the Bobby Moore Fund in Essex, providing a platform for those in Moore’s hometown of Barking and surrounding areas to come together as a community to donate, discuss, and upload videos and photos of their fundraising efforts.

Stephanie Moore, MBE and founder of the Bobby Moore Fund, said: “Bowel cancer devastates the lives of so many families, with 44 men and women losing their lives to it every day in the UK.

“It’s vital that we continue to raise as much money as possible for research into the disease that claims so many lives and devastates so many families. Thank you for your support.”

The charity are aiming to raise £20,000 from the new page alone.

Darren Couchman, Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager for Essex, said: “Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”
