WHILE last year's FA Cup winners, Liverpool, were falling by the wayside at their very first hurdle, the team they beat in such heartbreaking fashion last May, were booking themselves another home tie in the competition as it moves into round four.

Last season, West Ham had to do things the hard way.

A tough trip to Norwich City was followed by a home game against a powerful Blackburn Rovers side and then tough trips to Bolton and Manchester City on a cup trail that gave the Hammers no easy games.

This time round they were thankfully given a copmaratively easy task of a home game against Brighton & Hove Albion in round three.

And now, although drawn against a fellow Premiership side, a clash with London rivals Watford will not fill Alan Curbishley and his troops with too much dread.

The Hornets currently sit bottom of the Premiership table and will come to Upton Park for the league clash the week after they are due to meet in the FA Cup on the weekend of January 27 and 28.

One man who will be looking forward to the game is former Hammers' youngster Moses Ashikodi.

The 19-year-old spent a year and a half at Upton Park without being given a single first team game before moving on to Glasgow Rangers where he made just one substitute appearance.

However, Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd decided that he had potential as he paid a nominal fee for the Millwall Academy boy and it paid dividends in his very first game as he scored one of the goals in the 4-1 FA Cup victory over Stockport County at Vicarage Road.

Ashikodi will have something to prove back at Upton Park, but this is a great opportunity for the Hammers to embark on another long cup run which will also hopefully give them more confidence when it comes to league matches.

The game will be played on Saturday January 27 at 3pm.
