EMERGENCY: Air ambulance arrives at the scene
A MAN who collapsed and smacked his head on a pavement in Ilford Town Centre is seriously hurt but in a stable condition this morning.

The 51-year-old man collapsed at a bus stop opposite Barclays bank in High Road, Ilford yesterday afternoon.

A section of the road was closed for more than an hour while paramedics gave him emergency aid at the scene.

An air ambulance took him to the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, where he is stable after suffering a serious head injury.

It is not known what caused the man to collapse, but police say there are no suspicious circumstances.
