A FAMILY who received sickening threats to pull their missing parrot's wings off and bake it in the oven, has consulted a psychic in a bid to find the bird.
Monica Janowski and daughter Molly, 18, of Cranbrook Road, Gants Hill, contacted Dominic Zenden this week after frantic searching for African grey parrot Beryl came to nothing.
The clairvoyant told the family he was confident Beryl is no more than a mile or two from home and doing fine - possibly resting in tall trees.
Monica, 52, said: "You can't help it, even if you don't believe in these things, a little bit of you feels that perhaps your bird is OK."
At the moment the family is concentrating the search on Clayhall and Barkingside.
The Janowskis were alerted to an African grey being kept by a family in Charter Avenue, Ilford, but they found the bird was not Beryl.
The Recorder reported three weeks ago that Beryl took flight when Monica put the rubbish out, forgetting the 18-month-old bird was perched on her shoulder.
A poster campaign pleading for help only produced a barrage of abusive calls threatening to harm Beryl.
Monica said Molly, whose love for birds started aged six when she rescued and nursed a starling chick back to health, was inconsolable.
The starling, she named Tweeter, sadly died when Molly went out shopping with her grandmother - something she has never got over, said Monica.
Molly also looked after a young crow which fell from a tree in nearby Valentines Park.
Anyone who spots Beryl should call the Missing Pets Bureau on 0800 0198 123 or John Hayward on 07802 404929.
