TERRITORIAL Army soldiers have left their families behind and flown out to war-torn Afghanistan on a sixth month tour.

Woodford rifleman Dave Warren, 34, Capt Stephen Haywood-Smith, 47, of Chadwell Heath and Lance Corporal Terry Duffield, 47, whose family live in Hainault and Dagenham, jetted off in October to protect British military bases and help train the Afghan Army.

The three men, who will be keeping in contact with readers via the blog, form part of the 140-strong Salonika Company made up of 96 TA soldiers and 44 regulars.

This site will be regularly updated with their news from Camp Bastion in the Helmand Province of southern Afghanistan.
